Moradabad · Peetal Nagri

From molten brass to a mirror finish

Moradabad has worked metal for generations. Across India it's still called Peetal Nagri, the City of Brass. Every AAIN cup is made here, by hand and by machine, in six stages.

  1. Cast

    Bowls, stems and fittings are cast in brass and aluminium.

  2. Turn

    Each part is turned true on the lathe and fitted to the next.

  3. Engrave

    Collars, lids and feet are engraved by hand, the craft Moradabad is known for.

  4. Polish

    Every surface is buffed to a mirror before it goes into the plating bath.

  5. Plate and colour

    Gold, silver or chrome plating, then enamel, marbling or glitter on the bowl.

  6. Assemble

    The cup is fixed to its plinth, checked, wrapped and packed for the journey.
